Safety and Health Policy

Samsung C&T places the safety and health of customers, employees, and all workers as its top priority and fundamental principle of action. To prevent accidents, we comply with laws and standards and lead a safety-first culture. Recognizing that safety and health are non-negotiable absolute values, we commit to the following actions:

Based on this Safety and Health Policy, all employees and subcontractors recognize the importance of safety and health, actively invest in and implement necessary measures to prevent accidents, and ensure a safe working environment.

“The fatality rate per 10,000 workers in the Korean construction industry is 2.0 times the average of the 10 major OECD countries.”

Even in advanced countries that prioritize "safety" as a core value, the fatality rate in the construction industry is approximately 2 to 6 times higher than the national average across all industries, reflecting the inherent characteristics of the construction sector. In Korea, as of 2023, the fatality rate in the construction industry was 1.59‱, which is approximately four times higher than the average across all industries and 2.04 times higher than the average of 0.78‱ for 10 major OECD countries.

Efforts to Reduce Accidents Are Essential

Looking at the fatality rate in Korea’s construction industry, it is approximately four times higher than the average across all industries, making it the highest among 10 major OECD countries. Under the slogan, “Safety is the first principle in the management” Samsung C&T’s Construction Division is carrying out a wide range of safety initiatives. Through these efforts, the company has achieved a reduction in its fatality rate to 0.12‱(compared to the Korean construction industry average of 1.57‱). However, we are not complacent and continue striving to eliminate accidents through ongoing investment and continuous efforts.
